Improvers short workshop // FOCUS ON: Handles

A course for those who have some throwing experience and are confident centring 500g of clay and throwing a cylinder.

Sunday 19th April: 11am - 5.30pm
Saturday 9th May: 2 - 4.30pm

Cost: £220 pp

This is intended to be the first in a series of short, focused workshops for those who already have some throwing experience, but who are looking to refine and develop their making skillset. You will be learning with both Cath and Sian, two experienced teachers, who actively make and sell their own work.

Spend a weekend focusing on the various methods for making handles. 

A specialist class for those who have some throwing experience but would like more guidance on the process of making and adding handles to their pots.

On day one (1pm-4pm) we will have a throwing session to throw up to 8 cylinders on which to practice our handles. This course is not suitable for absolute beginners, you should be able to centre and throw a cylinder or have previously taken a beginners throwing course.

On day two we will start at 11am with approximately one and a half to two hours for trimming our pots, followed by a short lunch break (teas and coffee will be provided but please bring a lunch - there is a microwave available for heating food).

Then from 1.30pm - 5.30pm we will demonstrate several different handle making techniques (including pulling, coiling, slab building), with an opportunity to practice after each technique. 

We will then reconvene for a short glazing session on the afternoon of Saturday 9th May (2pm - 4.30pm). Pots will be available for collection approximately 3-4 weeks after the end of the course.

Class numbers for this will be a maximum of 12 people, with two tutors available throughout for guidance.

Cancellations:

When you book on the course please ensure you can attend all dates as it is not possible to offer catch up sessions. 

If you need to cancel once full payment has been made we will try and fill the space. If we can re-fill the space you will be offered a refund, minus a 15% booking fee. If we cannot fill the space we will not be able to offer you a refund.
