What we'll cover across the 8 weeks:

Weeks one and two: The basics of wheel throwing - with plenty of emphasis on hands-on practise on the wheels using stoneware clay. We'll start with throwing cylinders and then learn how to alter these to make different shapes.

Week three: Selection of 5 pots to take forward for firing (the ones that don't make it can be recycled back into clay for future use). Trimming, tidying, decoration and adjustments of selected pots for bisque firing.

Week four: Glazing our bisque-fired pots ready for the firing.

Weeks five and six: We will continue our wheel throwing practice with a focus on how to open up to make bowl shapes, how to close up to make bottle shapes and how to throw taller.

Week Seven: Selection of 5 pots to take forward for firing (the ones that don't make it can be recycled back into clay for future use). Focus on handle making methods and trimming, tidying, decoration and adjustments of selected pots for bisque firing.

Week Eight: Review of previous glazed pots and glazing our bisque-fired pots ready for the final firing.

Finished pots will be ready for collection approximately 2 -3 weeks after the end of the course. We will email you when they are ready.

The cost of the course is: £370 per person payable at the time of booking.
